How will you dress at my wedding?

Your wedding is a very special event and we treat it as such. We always choose dress attire and adjust the formality based on the style of wedding you have planned (Informal, Semiformal, Formal).

No one will show up in t-shirts, gear vests or backpacks full of lenses (it's not a safari!). You can expect a level of professionalism that you won't find on Craigslist.

How do I know I'm a Surreal Bride?

Surreal Brides ...

  • Would rather capture the feelings of the day, instead of simply having it documented.
  • Would take their wedding album, if they could only salvage one item while escaping their burning home.
  • Value their close relationships and want images that tell the story of those relationships.
  • Love to kick back and have a little fun on their wedding day.
  • Love a look that is glamorous, fashionable yet classic and natural at the same time.

Do I need to give you a shot list?

The short answer: No shot list needed! You can relax and enjoy your day.

The long answer:
For portraits of bride & groom: We are happy to honor special requests as time permits. We are experts at creative and professional portraiture and will create beautiful results either way.

For family formals: We prefer to stick to our "tried and true" method for completing formal portraits as efficiently and quickly as possible. Since we won't be able to match faces with names on your list, trying to use a personalized list to orchestrate formals can actually make things more confusing.

What is a First Look Session?

First look sessions are a private meeting for the bride and groom prior to the wedding ceremony. Maggie waits near the altar with the groom as Kristin follows the bride into the room giving their undivided attention to one of the most tender moments of your wedding day.

    Why you want one:
  • Your hair, makeup and dress will be at their most beautiful.
  • Many couples tell us seeing your "soon-to-be" early calms your aisle-imposed nerves.
  • Your first emotions and expressions are just for you. Truly the ONLY private moment of the wedding.
  • You have more time to spend with your guests, because your after ceremony photographs won't take nearly as long.
First look images are beautiful and absolutely irreplaceable.

What if I don't want a First Look Session?

You don't have to have one.

If you don't feel comfortable seeing your "soon-to-be" before the wedding, adding a Newlywed Session at a later date is a great way to reclaim some of that magic.

In all honesty, couples we've photographed who have chosen a First Look Session have been thrilled with the results. The intimacy of the wedding day is often difficult to recreate, but as you can see above, Newlywed sessions can yeild very beautiful results.

Are Books and Albums different?

Yes, very! The size, weight, print process, build time and life span of albums and books are quite different.

Books: Books are press printed using heavy paper stock. Our books are bound so they lay flat when open so that images aren't distorted by the hinge of the book. Available with leather covers, or custom image covers.

Albums: are printed using true (silver halide) photographic paper and offer a wide variety of cover, paper and finish options. Prints are mounted to a thick (1.5mm) substrate and extend across the entire page leaving no gap at the binding allowing for perfect printing of panoramic images. These are our highest quality print offering and are truly an investment that will last lifetimes. Available with leather, aluminum, copper, custom image & acrylic covers.

Do you do windows?

While it's not technically in our job description... yes. Kind of.

We're not your grandparent's photographers. Part of our boutique style studio is our ability to give you special attention on your wedding day.

"Special attention" has meant teaching groomsmen to tie ties, cleaning mud off of stilettos, pulling out the emergency sewing kit, carrying trains, moving furniture (don't ask) and re-pinning veils. Your best pictures happen when things are running smoothly, so we do what we can to help.

So if that window is going to be in the picture...we do windows.
